I never have tried one for fear that I would start grunting, rubbing my head on the wall, and follow my wife around sniffing her backside to see if she is ready yet.
I have heard/read that there is quite a difference in taste between acorns from a White Oak, and those from a Red Oak. One is generally really bitter tasting, and the other is usually sweet which is what the deer prefer. Can't remember which way it goes, but one of the threads on here covers that.
