I need to see some stats. He who asserts must prove. You have asserted now demonstrate (put up or shut up).
Just reading on through. So, you asserted just the opposite of Vono, so... lets see the stats. Just because you can pound out a few paragraphs and sound like you know what you are talking about doesn't make it fact without stats - according to yourself, that is.

To suggest aLab could do a betterjob in the marsh is so asanine as to be considered a test ofor retardation. I promise to agree with you from now on because I sit on my fatass and don't do anything.

Dang. You're wound up a bit tight. Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one. If he likes another breed for a purpose that you think it wasn't intended for it doesn't mean he's wrong, it means he disagrees. It's really that simple.

As far as the runt vs. the biggest one, etc. Here is my belief. It does not make any difference, because despite what breeders tell you, no one knows what a six week old pup is going to turn out like, even if they pretend they can (I think Andrei will tell you this as well). In my opinion, pick the color or markings that you like cause everything else is just a crap shoot. That is why you pick a good breeder. Hopefully, he did his homework and ALL of the pups more or less have the same characteristics.
HA! I love this. My dog was the runt of the litter and he's a bruiser now. And I did exactly what you said - I picked the pup that I thought looked the best. I didn't follow all the suggestions out there about picking a pup based upon x, y, or z. I went to a breeder that was reputable, that had hunting dogs that they actually "hunt"!!! and I picked a pup. He's a hunting machine. He's in the last month of his training and is fired up and going strong.

It's been a search that has taken the better part of 2 years to sort out. It's kind of funny though. As soon as I knew, I knew.

Cheers,
Dan
You sound like me. I took over a year to decide and I'm glad I looked around. Hope you enjoy your new pup when he/she shows up. Enjoy
