Ok i need a new gun. I was given a remington model 710 .270 for x-mas 2 years ago and the gun has done great and killed everything i have asked it to. well now it is messed up and the bolt is stuck. i dont think i will be able to find the receipt for it as it was a x-mas present so even though it is under warranty remington pry will not repair or replace it free of charge. and i am fairly sure that it more likely will need replaced. if i get it fixed i may try to sell it to someone cheap. so now i need a new gun. i mainly hunt for mulies up here in south dakota withchances of long shots due to openess of terrain. i may get a chance to hunt bigger game down the road so i was thinking of changing calibers. i love the .270 but something different would be nice. Right now i was thinking of getting a savage in .308. money is an issue so a gun around 400 is what i am looking for and walmart has savages pretty cheap plus savages shoot well from what i hear. looking for suggestions on exact savage model(or other guns even though i think savage is the best gun for me right now), different calibers if you think another caliber would be better. i have considered another .270 (but would like a little more power), 30-06(everyone i know has one so i was thinking of getting something different),7mm, 7mm mag(dont know much of the 7mms so any input is welcome), and of course in the lead a .308. i have never shot one and i do not know anyone with one but there is a fairly versatile caliber plus they are pretty flat shooting correct? this gun will not see a whole lot of shots as i do not bench shoot much it will be a good all around hunting gun. i already have a 3-9 burris fullfield II waiting to go on it so it does not have to come with a scope. I was going to get a new .204 ruger for varmints and messing around but i need a deer gun first as deer season is approaching (which is GREAT!!). maybe i will get both......no no i cant afford them both even though i wish i could :|(i am also looking for a car right now so i pry shouldnt get both guns so deer rifle first). thanks for any input guys i appreciate it!!
