I've owned six .223 rifles and all shot superbly well. Sako, interarms mini, and Remington 700
Stocks vary all over the place and can be customized by customers to any finish.
Go back and get details...like manufacturer, model, barrel length, make of scope and magnification.
.223 rifles are rarely shot out as they don't burn a lot of powder but they can be so look in the barrel for throat erosion.
Chances are that it's just fine.....but $450 might be a tad high.
you need particulars to judge price....is it a luepold scope?????...or a Tasco...it makes a difference in price.
