You should be able to use one pin to at least 20 yards with a newer bow. If this is your first year bowhunting I would seriosly advise you to consider maybe not taking a shot much further than 20 yards, definitely no more than 30. That is my personal limit anyway and I've been at it with the bow for 10 years now. But some people feel comfortable shooting much further than that and if you're one then by all means don't let me tell you otherwise. I'd set 'em @ 10, 20, and 30 and then practice, practice, practice, and when you get done practice some more. Good luck
