Jack, give Bill Foreman at Great Plains a call and he can give you the recommended brace for your particular bow. Many will brace in the 7"-8" range, but it depends on the design--some will brace lower, some higher. I've seen it run from around 6" to 9" on different recurves. The type string material you are using can make a difference also--you can generally go lower with one of the high performance materials.

Bill can also tell you where to measure from for the recommended brace on his bows--usually it's from the deepest part of the grip, but some measure from other places.
