I dont know why, but for me it just wouldent quite seem right to hunt bison with a bolt action, probably too many westerns I guess. My first choice for such a hunt would be a Sharps Replica in 45-110 or 120, BP loads of course

. Now it you simply must go modern, I'd go with the .300H&H. Good luck with the hunt.

I'm with you on this one. If I had a once in a lifetime chance to hunt Bison I would go traditional all the way. To me it just wouldn't seem right otherwise.
How would 45-70 in the Sharps work? Black Powder of course. I think it would be about half the price of the 45-110.
If the range is within reason, I think the 45-70 would work.
