As for the DUI part, according to Canada’s Criminal Code, conviction of driving under the influence of alcohol makes the individual an “inadmissible” person, in violation of Section 19 (2) (a.1) of the Immigration Act of Canada. A waiver of exclusion may be obtained from a Canadian consulate in the United States.
