for shotguns i like mossberg, mainly because of the price and the ambidextious thumb safety.
as far as rifles, i'm a big fan of NEF, lightwieght, inexpensive, and they also shoot pretty good.
i'd be afraid to hunt with a real expensive pretty looking rifle, i'd probably break it
