RE: It's a real shame - please read
Here I go, like it or not. I said clearly before and I'll say it again, the fact that it became a Texas bashing debacle was unfortunate and the fact that it got personal was also unfortunate. But, I need to ask why you think that ethics and morals are such a n o-no! It is obvious that not all things legal are ethical. It is obvious that what some consider ethical, others disagree with and will use every inch that a legality allows them. That does not change the problem that exists when the 2 collide. But, the way to handle the problem is not by avoiding it, or by bowing to political correctness and pretending that all points of view are equal. There is such a thing as absolutes ,and there are established mores and norms that , no matter what your opinion is, cannot be changed. There is a difference in fact and fiction, right and wrong, true and false.Ones opinion may or may not be consistent with the facts, the truth. The truth is where we all need to get to, and it alone can dictate and should be deferred to , over and above all opinions. I would like to ask how you would suggest accomplishing this without including ethics and morals? To do so leaves nothing but conjecture and , again, opinion. All have opinions, but not all adhere to truth. So good luck with trying to resolve this or any other matter by trying to skirt around the only thingthat really matters. This is not intended as being inflammatory, but to raise an honest objection to the point you raised.
