Default 3 More Days Until The Moose Hunt

We leave Wed Oct 2nd. Two friends, my two sons and I will embark on our annual moose hunt. It's a fly-in to a remote lake in northern Ontario. Although remote, the cabin is well equipped. The rifle season doesn't open until the 6th. so we'll have a few days to get comfortable, scout around a bit and do some (excellent) walleye fishing. Preparation is complete; the rifle is sighted, everything's packed and except for the last minute food items we're ready to go. Last year's moose meat is almost gone so it's time to replenish the freezer. Of course the 'moose hunt' is only one of the reasons for this trip or maybe it's the excuse for the trip. Ten days goes by far too fast. Once a moose is taken (and one is enough) then there are bear, ducks, ruffled grouse and as I mentioned earlier, walleye fishing to occupy our too short days. I feel very fortunate to be able to make this annual trip with family and friends and I'm just counting the days.

I'm sure there are many of you also preparing for your hunt and I for one would be interested in hearing your story or feelings on it. I guess one the reasons for this post is my concern for all the rhetoric and political pressure from the anti-hunting groups and I wonder how much longer we'll be able to enjoy our sport or if our grandchildren will be able to. gg.
