Depends on how long the string is. What's the bow? Double or single cam? Really doesn't matter much as any string should have enough twists in it that there is one rotation for about every 2" of string length. In other words, if the string is 90" long then it should already have about 40 to 45 twists in it. Many come from the factory with little or no twists at all. This contributed to peep rotation and noise. So in your case you need to shorten about 1/4". I'd say twist it up. As I said, how many twists depends on how long the string is.
