RE: PA bear hunter killed in Alaska
I wouldn't think its all that uncommon for a grizzly to require more than two shots to bring down, and as far as staying calm under pressure that might not have been possible if the beat were charging. There is no shame in soilingyour shorts when a large predator wants to kill you. As far as not shooting your meal ticket in the head, that is really inexcusable. My stepfather and I are going bear hunting this year, and the only time that an accidental shooting should occur is when the bear is on top of the hunter attacking him, and the other person in the party has to take a shot to take the bear out. We both agreed that if either one of us gets shot in that situation we won't hold a grudge lol. I've seen and heard tell of guy who were afraid of hitting their buddy so they just let the bear keep mauling him. We were under the belief that it is better to shoot the bear immediately and take our chances with the ricocheted bullet LOL.
