Default RE: Weather in WY and COL

Hey there,

I just moved away from that area and hunted extensively in both States. I essence, plan for everything. I can not stress this enough. In fact, one day you can have 20 degree weather with driving, piling snow, and the next day it can be 60 and sunny. I'll try to list you some things you have to consider.

[ul][*]Water, Water and more Water.... This may be the most important thing to know. Bring and drink plenty of water. I recommend a Camel Back or similar product. The altitude can really mess with people and altitude sickness (even at 6000 feet) is often casued by dehydration. When people vistied me, I often told them to drink twice as much water as they normally did. Increase this when hunting and moving around all day. You will avoid headaches and nausea.[*]Layers. One of the best times of the year in Colorado is September. It it usually beautiful out. Temps can easily climb into the 60's up high with plenty of sun. The sun is MUCH more intense up high. You can quickly find yourself sweating it up. But very quickly, and especially at dark, it can cool off, often below freezing. Bring light weight layers with you. If you are moving at all (hiking, stalking, plan on some major sweating no matter what the temps)[*]Plan for snow. You just may get some. It will be light, but will warm up and melt usually. comfortable water proof boots are a must.[*]Nights get cool, sometimes very cool.
[/ul] If you have any other particular questions, just ask. I'll try to read the posts.

See ya and good luck!!
