I carry a lot of knives with me into the field. I have a Cutco "D" edge hunting knife on my belt, a 4" blade Case and an old army knife my dad brought back from Vietnam. All three are sharp to the edge. I also have a Wyoming knife (http://www.knivesplus.com/wyoming-knife-saw.html) that is a lifesaver for skinning. The gut hook is fast and easy and the skinning blade works like a hot knife through butter. I skinned a bear with it two years ago in nothing flat. I didn't have a sharpening stone with me so I changed the blade half-way through but I was totally impressed with it's performance. Can't beat the price either.
