The finesse worm is basically like your average plastic worm except it is thinner, and usually is anywhere from 5-7 inches long. they all seem to have a bulge towards each end. Finesse worms are usually "wacky" rigged. With wacky rigging, you take a #1-3/0 hook, and hook it towards the middle of the worm and throw it out, without any weight. Let it settle to the bottom, and make it bend and move. I usually skip them under low hanging branches or under docks. I kind of jig them up into about 6" from the surface before i let them sink again.They are killer on bass.The hooks i use normally are the sizes mentioned, usually a Gamakatsu Octopus hook(normally found in the livebait areas of tackle stores), or a Diachii bleedin bait catch and release circle Wacky hook. Some good examples of a finesse worm are the YUM Houdini worm, the Zoom Trick Worm, the Gambler Sweebo, and the Strike King finesse worm(i believe thats the name).

Drop shotting is a technique that originated in Japan. Basically, you havea 3/16 oz to 1/2 oz weight, egg shaped or cylinder shaped, attached to the end of your line witha little clip thats built in to the weight. Up around 24", you have a #2-1/0 drop shot or octopus hook tied on with a palomar knot. You keep a long tag end on the knot to attach the weight to. The hookpoint rides up, and you attach a smaller soft plastic weight to it so present it in a vertical fashion. Works great for suspended fish in clear water. Lures i'd use on a drop shot rig are in the 2-5" length range. Good lures-YUM Dinger, Yum Houdini Shad, ISG Goby, Gary Yammamoto Senko, shorter finesse worms, etc. Basically, you have to have clearer water to do this. having depth isn't necessary, as i've seen guys drop shot in shallow water. because the bait relies so much on the fish seeing it instead of hearing it, you have to have some good water clarity.
