Hey guys,
I actually just got a Wirehaired Dachshund from John & Jolanta Jeaneney (from Born-to-track.com). He is exactly 4 months old today. You can start running them on trails at a very young age. Start with liver drags and work your way up. I have ran mine on a couple trails, and I know John was running him for a while allready. I can tell you that you can't go wrong buying a pup from John & Jolanta, they are so helpfull and do such a great job with there dogs. I have spoke with many many people that have there dogs and everybody is happy, and has had great results. If they have a dog that doesn't meet there expectations, they sell it as a pet.
Anyways, back to the point, If you really want to learn about tracking, I highly recomend John's book, it should answer pretty much any question that you have about tracking. It is a blood trackers bible, and it really helps Newbies like me.
I am so pumped for this upcomming season

I am more excited about tracking for people than I am about shooting my own deer. I hope training continues to go well. Time will tell.
Here is a picture of him, He has short hair, but I believe his brothers and sisters all have the long hair like the breed is supposed to have. I didn't mind getting the one with short hair, it will keep him clean, and I won't have to groom him at all.
