RE: Velocity Question
It would really depend on what model bow and year it was. Some were fairly speedy, some were not. Like the MQ32, really nice bow, but not very fast. Now the Ultra 2 and a few others had a fair amount of speed. I compared my 2000 darton yukon to one and they shot exactly the same speeds. And my darton was rated at 298 fps IBO.
I agree with the others, in the past five years the bows are pretty close. The average has gone up a little though I think. It used to be around 300, now I would say it's closer to 310 or so, and they probably actually acheive it. Where is before it was mostly hype from what I could tell. Heck I have an older martin cheetah that is rated at 300 fps IBO, and it's from 96-97 with steel cables on it.
Last time I checked my bow it shot 244 fps with a 315 grn arrow at 26 inches and 51 lbs of draw. Those are not the actual arrows I shoot though. I shoot 2213's which are considerably heavier than that. I would guess around 200-210 fps. The only reason I checked was to varify the effeciency for an arrow selection program. It's a bowtech mighty might VFT by the way.
