Tonight I was in a stand I hunted last Friday. That night I seen a spike and a doe, but it wasn't until I took out the deercam that night that I seen there was a half decent 4x4 hanging in that abandonded farmstead. Well, tonight I had a doe and two fawn pass downwind of me (ScentLok works!) but was holding out for a buck this year. I didn't want to stay in the stand as long as the other night because it was so dark I couldn't see the tree steps getting out of the stand. Besides, I wanted to put the deercam back up and needed a bit of light to find a good place for it. So, I lowered my bow, unclipped my harness and made my way to the ground. I was untying my pullup rope when I heard something not far away walking. I peeked around the tree and seen two deer making their way towards my position. Well, I always velcro my Winn release around the bow string/cables so I don't loose it. Having no choice, I peeled the velcro open, put on the release, nocked an arrow just as the first deer came into full view. I drew on him, and seen he was the spike from the other night. I had a totally clear shot at about 10 yards, but glanced at the other deer coming behind him. I couldn't tell if this was the 4x4 from the pics or perhaps a bit smaller 3x3. As I swung the bow slowly over to him, the spike seen the movement and bolted. The second buck was still standing in some small elm saplings, and I had a dead tree also just in front of me. But there was about a 1 foot square open hole right to his vitals. I squeezed and heard the thump sound that indicates a good hit. He ran off and I went back for the vehicle. Driving back I see the 4x4 making his way to the farm until he seen me. Upon returning, I could find no blood trail but was kicking myself for not bringing a lantern, just a mag light. I was pretty sure he was down and close so I did a half circle and found him dead about 40 yards from the shot. It was a perfect double lunger. Tommorrow I'll go back to see if I can find the arrow. It blew through him, and since I was actually shoot a bit upwards, might have gone quite a ways. Here are the pics.

Well, I'm quite happy with this one, being my second bow kill and first archery buck kill, even if it isn't going to do much in the moderators cup .
