I don't know. I remember it being very hard to kill doves with a .22 cal pellet much less a .177. A chicken is twice that size. Shot placement is near impossible with birds. I remember RWS made some powerful gas operated .177 but they are expensive. I would recommend getting a Benjiman/Sheridian in .22cal. I still have mines when it was just Benjiman (nearly 25 years old now) and still works great .
