RE: Americas best kept shotgun secret.
Threetoe, I can understand your excitement over the Stoeger 2000. Like I said it's a very good gun for the money. I would even pick this model over both a Remington 1100 and 11-87.
To answer some of your questions. Patrick Flanigan is a trick shooter who broke Tom Knapps record. You are the one who brought up Tom Knapps record (now old).
You state that Stoeger is the ONLY one using Benelli's revolutionary action system. Read your own post, It's on the thrid paragraph, first sentence.
A 10% loss in velocity is way off. Guns like the Browning Gold and Winchester SX2 only travel about 1/2" backwards to cycle the action. I will dig around to see if I can find a link for you that has the difference. You state you did a test between an 1100 and 870. You make no mention of barrel length between the two. There is a loss of 8-10 fps per inch of barrel length up to about 30". Are you saying that Inertia and Long Recoil operated semi auto's do not start to cycle (open bolt) before the shot has totaly left the barrel? To answer this you must supply high speed photos while the gun is being fired and cycling.
I never said that Beretta owned anyone in my post. Now that we are one the subject. Beretta owns Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, Sako, Tikka, and some others. Benelli is also an importer, so they import forBenelli, Franchi, and Stoeger.
If you like your Stoeger, than I'm happy for you. I think it will be a good gun for many years to come as long as it's taken care of.
I will say that in the future if you want to call me out to the mat on semi auto shotguns. I would advise you to stay in your own weight division.
