If so, then there are plenty of alternatives on the market that would allow you to mount a scope on that "crackbarrel". Most of them are a one piece design that simply bolt atop the barrel (assuming it is tapped) and you then usually mount the scope with a Weaver type set of rings.

Am I remotely close in my dialectual summation of coonspeak?

LOL one of my best buds is a cajun, when we had first become friends I had the hardest times figurin what he was talkin about sometimes LOL yep "crack barrel" is cajun talk for a break action
