RE: Help me in selecting the right Crossbow
Well I havea Barnett Recurve style Crossbow,And it's great,150# Draw weight,Very Accurate,And smoother than you would think,
My Dad hunts with a Norton Nitro Hunter compound style crossbow and he loves it,He's killed sevrel deer with it and even killed a 250# wild hog with it the first season he had the crossbow,At 50 yards either one is deadly,
My advise would be to go to a proshop and hold the different styles of crossbows,Find one that's the right weight for you,Carring a crossbow through the woods is a lot like carring a gun,The heavier the bow,the more you tire out,Try finding one that is not only powerful,But is lighter weight,My Barnett weights less than 3.5 pounds,My dads Horton weights over 4.5 pounds,And that extra pound make a big difference when you are carring it through the woods or holding your aim for a few mins,So find one that is comfortable for,
My only other advise is,Don't use a red dot sight,With a crossbow they tend to get off target every other shot,I have a 30-06 rifle scope on my Barnett and it's dead on at 15-20-25-to 65 yards,My dad uses a crossbow scope,And Like I said before he's taken sevrel deer and a wild hog with it.so stick with the scope, and find a crossbow that's the right weight and poundage for you.Good luck.
