My understanding is that Remington discontinued the bolt-lock....because of complaints of individuals like you. A victory for those who were upset by the device - eventhough it did not have to be used - and did not in any way compromise the performance or functionality of the rifles on which it is installed. Much ado about nothing....except for those who choose to get upset over trivia like this.
If this is true then i will pat myself on the back! I called remington and have trashed them for it on the net since they did it.
Now I use my rifles but i see them as a thing of beauty and i'll be d***ed if i am going to pay what they want for one and have a plastic tit on the side of the bolt shroud!!
I don't think the plastic tit issue was trivial!
Remington could have done something that wasn't so gawdy looking and accomplished the same thing. I looked at S&W this weekend the big 500 and i may have swallow my words . they actually incorporated a lock system that isnt gawdy actually you can't even hardly see it unlike the klinton key.
Some around here know i love smith &wessons and i said i wouldnt buy another .....i may have spoken to soon . i saw the quality they used to have in that big hand howitzer.
And the remingtons i picked up the other night actually felt like the remingtons that i so fondly favored of the past. I will definately look further into them and to my wifes sure dislike i will more than likely add a few more to my personal gun collection.
