Paul that is not entirely correct. When Browning created the BOSS it alwalys had an integral muzzlebrake. Therefore, as it was originally designed it was synonymous with owning a muzzlebreak and recoil reduction.
Now however browning has created a non ported option (CR) as a result of all the complaints mentioned above.
