No No guys, don't freeze it or ice it after is being salted, the wetness can still create bacteria on the hair side if there is blood or stomach fluids on the hair.
You can salted and roll it up and keep it in the shade, in top of a shelf or log at camp, where no critters can come and steal it, or even hang it from a raft and let the water from the skin drain, that is what salt does is to draw the water out and keep the bacteria low.
after 24 hours shake the wet salt off and resalt with fresh salt, it will beging to dry after that and then you can have it tanned .
