RE: COYWOLVES
I know I rub some guys wrong in here with my "know-it-all" attitude, but Im not ready to start being afraid of these animals. I feel that an animal as intelligent as a coyote is no threat to humans. Its the lack of intelligence that is scary, like deer or bear, with maternal or hormonal instincts mixed in. For example, I caught a large male coyote that was caught by a hind paw instead of the usual front paw. It never crossed my mind thatI had him that way. I wanted to get a few pics before dispatching him, so I walked around firing off pics. Well, he wouldnt move. So I ended up grabbing his tail to swing him around, figuring he was caught by the front end. He swapped ends real quick, but still never lunged. Im not saying theyre all safe, Im just saying they arent going to get you, either. They walk up my driveway and dont bother my captive deer, and Ive had them approach while hunting. Stray or free roaming cats and dogs, maybe...but not humans. Theyre too intelligent. Just my opinion.
