I think your best bet would be a hav-a-hart trap(live trap). Use sardines as bait or if there are cats in the area use cotton candy. If you are dead set on shooting them. Try a mouse sqeeker call. For ammo I highly recomend Remington's Sub Sonic. It is a little bit louder than a pellet rifle. It doesn't have the crack sound like most .22lr ammo just a loud thud.
