Default RE: External Elk calls

Sorry to bring up an old post, it was just brought to my attention and I felt I needed to reply to set the story a little straighter...

Elkcrazy8 said "I called against Corey at the super shoot in New Meadows quite a few years back. I found out later that his dad was one of the judges. I called BS on the deal and he told me that he could not tell if his son was calling or not."

I have called in one contest in which my Dad was the judge, and coicidently, I won. It was not in New Meadows however, it was in Lewiston, ID at a sports and RV show. There were 4 judges there, and they threw my Dad's score out when I bugled. If they had kept it, the guy I beat by one point would have beaten me, as my Dad scored me low :-( There were only 3 contestants and everyone agreed ahead of time that it would be fair to do it that way. I think I was 16 at the time.

Chad, you must have me confused with someone else, as I have only bugled in New Meadows 3 times. Twice my Dad and I tied, as he was bugling in the same contest, and once when my Dad wasn't there (I think I got 3rd...). Other than the time I bugled in Lewiston, I have never called in a contest when my Dad was a judge. And my Dad would never say he couldn't tell me from the other buglers...

My Dad has judgedthe contest at New Meadows once or twice, but never when I bugled there. Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight and make sure you didn't think I was going around entering contests when my Dad was a judge.Good luck with the 3-D and hunting Chad, maybe we'll be able to meet up at a contest one of these days!

Take care,
Corey
