I am sure you are excited and want to see something growing. I wish you were my neighbor. Love to plow, disk, drag, cultipack, etc.. Does the neighbor have disks? If you look around, and ask locals I'm sure you can buy a set of used disks that will work for you. There is old used farm equipment behind every barn around here. If you were closer you could use any of the implements I have except for the tractor. If I were in your shoes I'd find a way to get the field turned over, and put in winter rye. ASAP Rye goes for about 6cents a pound. Take a soil sample. Follow the recomendations when you get the analysis back.
