Default RE: Savage model 110 combo

Dick's Sporting Goods currently offers the Savage 111FCXP3 in .270, 30-06, 7mm and .300 with a crappy 3X9 scope, sling etc.....for $320. This has a synthetic stock with a clip. I was thinking of buying this in the .06, tossing the scope and then topping it off with good quality rings and mounts over a Nikon 3X9. BUT! I know everyone says the Savage is an excellent shooter. They just feel bad in my hands. So, in an effort to avoid having to go through this decision again, I'm going to spend the extra few bucks and get the Remington Mtn. rifle in a more suitable deer calibre. HOLD OFF BOYS! I know the 06 is wonderful! I just think it is a tad big for a whitetail only rifle.

My advice would be to buy this package and top it off with a good scope, mounts and rings if your a practical type of person who isn't going to set there staring at your rifle going ga ga over it. Unfortunately, I'm not able to do it. I'd end up using it for one year and then buying another next year. So, in the long run I'd spend more money.
