RE: The deer population is sick this year
I know you are frustrated with the land in your area CD...trust me, I know how you feel at times, but basing a judgement regarding Southeastern PA on 225 acres of property seems a little "reaching" to me. Was the area that you were scouting this year heavily hunted in the last few years.
My area gets ridiculous hunting pressure, year in and year out, and yet the deer population seems to be flourishing. I attribute that to the fact that there are several areas where hunting is not allowed thus allowing some deer to make it through every season. Aren't there any places like that down your way?
Why not try upper Berks? The gamelands just west of Hawk Mountain looked pretty promising. I was thinking of heading out that way next weekend just to walk around a bit to familarize myself with the area. I did see plenty of access points that would allow you to setup some ground blinds with relative ease.
Just a thought.
