Default RE: trolling motor

Deer37 sounds like you've had good luck with the Kota's. There not a bad motor,I have one on a 12'. Owned at least 4-5 Min Kota's. IMO they just don't seem to hold up or built as sturdy as Motor Guides. The new Kota's at least up to about 40 lbs are pure junk IMO. With some hard use, they are throw aways in about 5 yrs. They do have nice props and great thrust. Owned 3 Motor Guides, still have one, sold one with a boat, the other was at least 30+yrs old. It drowned after nephew dropped in lake and sat for 3-4 days. Never seen a Kota even close to 30+ yrs.

With the onslaught of Super Wal Marts the Motor Guides have all but disappeared locally. Whatever your choice, there are no choices any more unless you have a Cabela's or Bass Pro close by.
