You have to mark the blank for your cross over points and take the thread up and down the rod. Your first time puts an x every where you marked it for one and from there you can change the pattern by puting the following thread on the top, bottom, left or right of your x. This one is the main color (gold, copper, blue) up and the black down. It takes a while.
