Are you shooting handicap trap or are you sure you're shooting from 22 yards?
Trap is usually shot at 16 yards.
At 16 yards, a modified is an ok choke, you will probably hit more birds with it from the get go, but anything beyond 16 yards, I would favor the full choke. In the long term, its best to stay with the full choke, it will make you a better shooter.
