8 1/2 lbs. is a good one. Excellent eating. Ugly yes. Fillet and skin then batter and fry like you you would with saltwater cod.
I've caught many icefishing after dark on lakes known for laketrout & whitefish.
Also some poach them & serve with drawn butter (poor mans lobster). Don't seem to freeze well (become a little mushy).
