I can't talk you out of a .338 UM. It's just a pure cannon and if you want it, who cares what it's for?

I don't know what a ranking system would be of guns to kill elk/moose, but a 338 RUM would have to be as good as ANYTHING. You get a big wound channel, you get fantastic ballistics with 200 grain (and bigger) bullets.
