Now, if you really want something big, and want to get your shoulder pounded, look around and find a good 375H&H. Much more versatile.
If you insist on a 338 magnum of some persuasion, I'd look to a plain old 338Win.Mag.
Better yet, find a good used rifle in something, say like a 30-06, and rebarrel it to
338-06. From purchase, to rebarrel, to bedding, to tinkering, etc., you'll have a birthday
present that keeps on giving!
