RE: Mobil 1 for your Car..how bout for the Rifle
Well, if you plan on using Mobil 1 in your firearms....just plan on changing it AT LEAST every 6 months....or 7500 miles....whichever comes first.
(Sorry, gentlemen....I couldn't help it.)
This is something to think about. I'm not sure that any motor oil would be up to the temperatures/ pressures generated in a rifle barrel.... then again, NO lubricant is up to that - or needs to be. So, I can't see the harm....unless, for some reason, the additive package (in all motor oils) might leave some sort of harmful deposits, or compounds (from the heat and pressure of the first shot). I have no idea. Interesting concept, though.
By the way, Carbon Tetrachloride is a known carcinogen. It also leaches THROUGH the skin...so, having it on bare skin is DANGEROUS...a definite health hazard. It is still used for various industrial processes...but should ONLY be used with a respirator and anti- chemical gloves...even an anti-chemical suit.
