There have also been panther, cougar, etc., sightings here in Wilcox County over the years. But, if you ask state officials, they say it's not possible, etc, etc,.

I have hunted river bottom (swamps) land here all my life and have never seen one, however, I would never doubt the word of some of the older folks that say they have seen them. There has also been black bear sightings here, but I personally haven't seen a track, much less the bear. Again, I wouldn't question some of the folks, I know they are truthful people. As a matter of fact, one of our farmers told several us at our morning watering (coffee) hole, that one of his hired hands saw what he thought was a bear yesterday, and when he got off the tractor he refused to ride on the back of the truck back to the shop. Said he was scared to death. So yes, I definitely do not doubt your words.
