RE: ??What will the turkeys eat ???
Tot,dont know if i'm any help here seeing as our flocks are quite aways a way from each other! But in lean years around these parts,(which by the way this year isn't lots of acorns)the birds turn really to the green grasses, berries, grapes, and as the temperatures become cooler in the morning the grasshoppers react slower presenting easy eating! The fields and creek bottoms is where most of this type of forage is found around here so consequently thats where the birds seem to be consentrated! One other thing too is we have vast quanities of orchard land that has a variety of friuts and nuts grown.Olives, prunes, almonds, and walnuts, are predominate and we have flocks that live in these orchards all year long! Some of these birds can weigh quite a bit more than other birds that aren't orchard living!I guess thats what you call "living high on the hog"!!
