I would have to say that the 308 is alive and well in Maine. I was up at my camp and had to stop by the local hardware store and the 308 was tied with the 30-06 for boxes of ammo only behind the 30-30. Also in the Big Buck of Maine contest the the 308 and 30-06 are neck and neck most years for first place
