Default RE: recoil

So much depends on the fit of the gun and other things to. My wife hunts deer with a 700 Classic in 250 Savage. She loves it and says she does not notice the recoil at all. Before I got her that rifle she used a Remington 600 in 308 and that didn't bother her either. However I had a 788 Remington in 243 and she hated that gun and said it kicked WAY to much. She likes to shoot my 6.5x55 and she shoots the NEF 7MM-08 Youth Model rifle. She doesn't like to shoot 243's and 30-30's. Its all in what it feels like to the one shooting.

I was looking at the recoil chart posted above. The recoil of the 416 Rem Mag is 50+ lbs while the 7mm Mag was around 19-21 lbs. I could feel the recoil of my 416 Rem Mag for sure. However my Ruger in 7MM Rem Mag hurt almost as much. At the same time I had a 700 Classic in 300 Win Mag that while not pleasant to shoot, seemed easier on my shoulder than my 7 Mags. I also had a 300 Win Mag in a Savage rifle that just kicked the hell out of me.

My NEF Buffalo classic with 500 grain cast bullets and 68 grains of 2F black powder will get your attention also. Its just eight lbs with the 32 inch barrel.
