Well if he won't I will. Any .260 or 7/08 would be ideal for this combination of game. The 140s in the .260 or the 160s in the 7/08 are enough bullet for any black bear that ever walked. However, a more natural combination of targets is deer and varmints for which a .243 is plenty of rifle, the .260 or 7/08 would need hand loading whereas the .243 ammo is available anywhere for either class.
