RE: calls
I read something last year which said that most deer will come to a fawn bleat. Thing is, a fawn bleat is very close, I've heard, to a doe in heat.
So, to test this, I set my Primos 5 -in-1 deer call, last year, to "estrous doe." On one drive, I was on watch, and lo! A doe comes through at close to full throttle. I blew on the deer call. The doe stopped in her tracks as if she hit a wall. Next thing I know, she's coming right at me, maybe 15-20 yard away. She looked right at me, but didn't see me--I was motionless. She got behind me, 12 yards away, and I shifted slightly. She trotted away, tail down.
I just wish it had been a buck . . . !
