RE: FastestBows.com...Check it out!!!
True enough, but it really doesn't matter how fast you go past! I played the speed game back in the mid to late 80's, and we "tweaked our bows" and ran ultra-light arrows and regularly got well over 340fps. BUT, the bows had a 8-9" brace height, and roughly 40-44" ATA!! And you know what? They shot great as long as they didn't blow up! VERY accurate.
NOW, you cannot say the same thing about a 5.25" brace height and 36" ATA, I don't care how you sugar coat it them things are some TOUCHY. Been there and done that. I wanna see the technology progress to the point where we can shoot those 8+" brace heights and 40+" ATA's and get that good old 340+ speed WITH IBO-LEGAL ARROWS AND DRAWWEIGHTS AND CORRECT AMO DRAWLENGTHS. 60lbs, 300grain arrow, 340fps with correct 30" AMO drawlength. THEN I'll be impressed. Far too easy to cheat drawlength, brace height, and ATA to push the envelope. Problem is, you can't hit squat with the "rat traps" consistently. Cool to watch through the chrono, but personally I want to shoot at something and hit it, as well. This is not just directed at Bowtech either. There are still quite a few "rat traps" left on the market besides them. (shot a Black Max lately?) Just my own thoughts, P12
