I got a new synthetic supermag for 350 or so. Thats cheaper than the 3.5 mag nova for sure. Second the 870 is a great gun and has never failed me or my dad for that matter. He recently purchased a browning gold 3.5in and loves it, but constally goes back to the 870 because it's such a great gun.
