Maybe you guys should be more worried about the number of coyotes. Coyotes take far more deer in Wisconsin and Minnesota per year than do wolves. And as for livestock, the number taken by wolves is very low. In 2004 only 38 farm animals were taken by wolves. In these instances, the DNR has programs of relocating problem wolves

Wolves in both states are tracked extensivly by the DNR. The wolf population in Wisconsin was estimated at 354 in 2003. Right now it is somwhere between 300 and 500 animals. Coyote populations are estimated to be between 17,000-20,000 in wisconsin.

I think you guys are just scared of the big bad wolves. []
