I have no experience with a 257 Bob, but I have used a 25-06 for years and would highly recommend it for what you want to use the rifle for. I routinely shoot whitetail deer at those ranges and they never go very far, most just drop. I use 90-100 gr HPBT's and the results are wonderful.
