I think the fog test you did is more than fair.
If these companies want to claim their products fog proof and waterproof
than they should be just that no matter what test is done.
If it is nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed properly, it won't leak.
You should be able to soak it in a creek and let it air dry and it should be fine.
You should be able to throw it in freezer and then let it bake in the sun and it should not fog up and the opposite should hold true as well.
That is a great test you did I'm going to try that on my next scope purchase as well.
